Career Goals

Career Goals Statement

Upon completion of the Learning, Design, and Technology Ph.D. program at the University of Georgia, I aspire to continue to contribute meaningful research within my field and pursue a tenure track professor position at a research intensive institution. I can also envision myself as a teaching professor or director of instructional technology within the public school education system due to my relevant background in childhood education, special education, and instructional technology.

As a researcher, I will continue my efforts to integrate technology to motivate mathematics educators and students. My ideal career would be to work as a faculty member within a Learning, Design, and Technology department. I am successful when teaching guides research and vice versa. I do not plan on limiting my job opportunities based on location, although I would prefer to stay on the East Coast.

Below are several sample careers which align with my career goals. A Ph.D. degree in Learning, Design, and Technology will meet the job qualification requirements for each job posting.

Sample Jobs

This is a tenure track faculty position. Upon graduation I will be qualified for the position. Some qualifications include earning a doctorate degree in educational technology, demonstrating successful teaching experience working with diverse students, establishing a research agenda, and demonstrating engagement in service activities. I hope to be accepted to the Future Faculty Fellowship Program which will meet the only other requirement of having mentoring experience.

University of Missouri - Kansas City

Division of Educational Leadership, Policy and Foundations (ELPF)

This faculty position with an emphasis on teaching may be a potential avenue for employment. Scholarship is still present although my background as an adjunct instructor and instructor of record meet qualifications of the position. As a professional development course instructor I worked with Horry County School Districts in South Carolina to promote technology integration, meeting the qualification requirement of working with K-12 school districts to integrate technology.

      Grosse Pointe Public School System

With a background in childhood education and a passion for integrating technology in a K-12  learning environment, this Director of Instructional Technology position may be a potential avenue of employment. I will have an advanced degree in educational technology as well as K-12 teaching experience and valid licensure. I also have vast knowledge of K-12 classroom technologies.
